The Anatomy of Unconditionality

Documented in Seoul, South Korea, 2023. In collaboration with LE MANDORLE and Florist VILLAGE LANE. The campaign celebrates the beauty found within individuals and explores the concept of unconditionality, which is the idea of loving and accepting oneself and others without any limitations or expectations. The styling approach centers around the Bloom Ear cuff, a signature piece from LE MANDORLE’s CH003 collection. A replica of the ear cuff was created using real flowers sprayed with silver, which emphasizes both the models' individuality and the beauty and intricacy of the natural world.

The project explores the homogenised aesthetic in Korean society. During the years I lived in Korea, I noticed that Koreans tend to dress in a similar style, they don't want to be outdated or stand out from others, this kind of mentality led me to start this project. By using Sliver AirPods Max as a visual symbol that has gone from an electronic product to a fashion item for Korean youth, I’m trying to focus on the herd mentality and the cult of elitism behind it. I made a beanie with the image of AirPods Max, worn by the central model, facing in a different direction to the crowd. This deliberate contrast is intended to start a conversation about the effects of homogenisation on society and the importance of embracing uniqueness and personal style. Inspired by ID photos, the project features 54 photographs of models dressed in formulaic styles, emphasising that while we follow the 'proper', we lose our unique.

The Anatomy of Spring is an art project that presents an unconventional interpretation of slinky toys. Slinky toys as a relaxation and a form to find Zen(禅) in my hectic life. By utilizing photography and editing, this classic toy has been transformed into a series of graphics rich in oriental Zen. The work is a unique interpretation of subtle beauty, it aims to inspire people to appreciate everyday objects and daily life in a new light.

Installation

Full Moon (福满)

The moon has been associated with many good intentions since ancient times. In Chinese culture, the full moon also carries the thoughts and nostalgia of countless people. I use a round table to reflect the full moon and visualize overseas Chinese longing for their homeland. The round table is not art, but because of its unusual placement, it can have the function of expressing emotions. Next to a small pond in a foreign country, it creates an area where overseas Chinese can meet, discuss, take photos and share their common identity. At that moment, it is like the full moon connecting the distant people with their hometown, which has a real meaning.

Error Code Green

Installation in a 430*180* 110 cm corridor, co-worked with CHAE DAN. We have a new vision of the green spaces that are becoming "invisible" in the modern city: in the uniformity of concrete and steel, they look like an image that was loaded by mistake during a bug in the system. We have built a 'rest area' for those who are looking for a green space to rest in the future, only occasionally appearing as a wormhole for spatial transition. We find a space — a corridor in the Hongik University campus, with a suspended door at one end, the corridor is so low that only people under 175cm can walk upright through it, and the other end leads to another floor, which is very much how we envisioned the game wormholes.
